Siapa tak tahu what is Program Latihan Khidmat Negara [PLKN] ? It is a training course which is a must for some Malaysian residence. It is meant for those who just ended their secondary school's education. Every year, about 25 % of the remaja yang will turn into 18 years old will be picked to menyertai PLKN.
Memang undeniably terdapat banyak pendapat from orang ramai in Malaysia tentang PLKN. Whether from the good-positive-praises or bad-negative-critisms. In this post of mine I'll be elaborating 5 reasons of my own why I love PLKN. Ohh yeah, I went to PLKN in 2007 at Kem Putra Sentosa, Sarawak.
The first and foremost reason yang I paling suka about going to PLKN is making new friends. They come from all kind of negeri's and places. And when they come from various kind of places they fall into various religion and races. You get to know new languages and also learn one or two of their adats. I learnt Sarawak language and their various dances. Real nice, I tell ya !
Second reason is of course larh the new valuable experiences yang you akan gain when you join PLKN. The trainees will do macam-macam activities yang mereka tak pernah buat sebelum ini. Kawad, shooting with a M-16 gun, jungle trekking, flying fox, and memang takleh lupa punya experience is kembara halangan. Have to climb a damn wall wei ! Haha ;)
Reason yang ketiga why I love PLKN is because you akan dapat the chance to join in one of their activity - khidmat community. And when you join that, you will kadang-kadang go to an orphanage home or the house of kanak-kanak yang kurang berupaya to clean their houses. This will memang menyedarkan you that you are one of the lucky ones to be born in the world.
The fourth reason is you will kinda mengukuhkan your patriotisme in yourself. And you will start to learn the importance in memupuk persatuan kaum. I can definitely tell you, at PLKN nak bersatu padu is kinda hard. Mula-mula you can clearly see Chinese with Chinese, Malays with Malays, Indians with Indians, Sarawakians with Sarawakians and such. The trainers larh yang kemudiannya akan mengubah sikap trainees. PLKN will membentuk perwatakan positif menerusi nilai-nilai murni.
The fifth and last reason is that you will get allowance per month base. During my time I received RM 100 per month. So the total yang I dapat after going through 3 months of PLKN is RM 300. Tak banyak I tau, but think it from this way . . . Naik flight, tidur at their place, makan-minum, joining in every activities yang dorang buat all for free. Not a penny spent !
So, bagaimana dengan korang ? Love or hate PLKN ? If you were given the chance to go to PLKN, will you go or not ? Sebab I tau ramai yang terus benci PLKN without any reason. Maybe sebab one or two unacceptable pendapat yang diberi oleh orang ramai di luar sana. LOL !
